Youth Pastor Opening
San Francisco Chinese Alliance Church (SFCAC), located in the Sunset
District of San Francisco, CA, seeks qualified applicants for the
position of Youth Pastor. Founded in 1969, San Francisco Chinese
Alliance Church belongs to the Christian & Missionary Alliance
denomination and has endeavored to spread the Gospel locally and
globally, bringing people to a saving and intimate relationship with
Jesus Christ. SFCAC consists of three language-based congregations;
Cantonese, English, and Mandarin. Its members represent a diverse
multi-generational and multicultural
background as they include people of all ages from North America,
Mainland China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and other parts of the
world. The Youth are a mixture of overseas- and American-born; mostly
with a Christian family background. The church holds four services on
Sunday morning; one in English, one in Mandarin and two in Cantonese.
Currently, the average Sunday attendance is about 700 people. It seeks
to build spiritually healthy, biblically grounded believers through
small groups and fellowships, which meet regularly. The church holds
various evangelistic opportunities, annual mission conferences,
short-term mission trips, language-specific Sunday School classes,
community events, and community services such as the weekly
after-school program and English language & US citizenship
classes.
Job Description
SFCAC is seeking a full-time Youth Pastor to lead the Youth Ministry;
developing young people into spiritually mature, Christ-centered
adults.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Develops and equips the Youth Ministry Team to love and disciple the
Youth
- Provides administrative oversight of the Youth Ministry
- Partners with parents and adult Youth workers to minister to the
families of the Youth
- Works closely with the senior pastor and the pastoral staff in
developing strategic, intentional ministry for building up the church
body as a whole. Reports and is accountable to the senior pastor.
- Focuses on the strategy for transitioning Youth to mature Christian
adulthood
- Supports the pastoral staff in preaching and caring ministry
- Participates in the weekly SFCAC pastoral meeting and the monthly
Governing Board meeting as a non-voting member.
Qualifications
The basic qualifications for this position include the
following:
1. Professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, while exuding a close
walk with God, which gives evidence of a Spirit-filled life and serves
as a model for the church.
2. Has a heart and a calling to nurture Youth and outreach to the
surrounding community.
3. Agrees with the doctrine, statement of faith, and mission of the
Christian & Missionary Alliance and be licensed by the Central
Pacific District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.
4. Able to teach the Youth and the church with the exposition of God’s
word, to facilitate the study of Scripture, to answer questions from
non-believers, to disciple new believers, and to work alongside and
encourage more mature believers to shepherd the Youth.
5. Preferably has a Master of Divinity or equivalent post-graduate
theological degree from an accredited Christian seminary or
school.
6. Has previous Youth and church ministry experience.
7. Be a team player, who can function comfortably in a multi-staff,
multi-lingual/-cultural ethnic church environment. Asian/Chinese
heritage or experience with Asian-American culture helpful.
