God's Perfect Timing

In Galatians 6:9, we learn about the Law of the Harvest, that in God’s perfect timing we will see the result of our hard work.  A couple of years ago I traveled an hour and a half to Stockton, CA from the San Francisco Bay Area where I lived, I went to Stockton to buy a Harley Davidson. After I had spent some time looking at the bike and talking with the man, whose name was Chewy, I decided to purchase the bike and ride it home while my wife and kids followed me back. Before I left, I shared my testimony with Chewy and gave him a new bible I had in my car. I explained to him that knowing Jesus was the most important thing in a person’s life – and death.

Two years passed, and by God’s divine hand, my family and I moved to Stockton where I am now pastoring a little church that was struggling. One night, out on the town, I ran into a man that just stared at me as if he had seen a ghost. He said, “It’s you – I can’t believe it’s you!” It was Chewy, the man to whom I had given the bible two years earlier. He then explained to me that after I had left the bible with him that God really started to work in his heart. He said, “God just kept coming after me and He wouldn’t go away. So, eight months ago I finally surrendered and gave my life to Jesus Christ.”

As we began to start a relationship he visited my church and began to bring others with him. One Sunday he brought his in-laws and they kept coming back. Two weeks ago they became members and are now involved in Bible Study and are getting connected with others. Last Sunday, Johnny, the father-in-law, came to me and said he had something to show me. He pulled off the cover of his bible and said that Chewy had given it to him a while ago. It was the bible I had given Chewy two years prior.

I had no idea that I was going to be serving the Lord in Stockton when I gave Chewy that bible, but God did, and He was planting a seed. Now Johnny is taking what he is learning in Bible Study and giving it away to others. He thinks that God may also be calling him to share with the Hispanic Community and the Migrant workers here in the Central Valley, as he is bilingual. God says that we will reap whatever we sow, and that he wants to do immeasurably more than we could ever dream. So, to all who are plating and watering – don’t’ quit before the miracle happens. It’s just a matter of God’s Perfect Timing!

Gratefully Committed,

Pastor Tim Agnello
