Mission and Strategic Plan

1. Mission

"Our mission is to know Jesus Christ; exalt Him as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and Coming King; and complete His Great Commission"

  • Evangelizing and discipling persons throughout the United States
  •  Incorporating them into Christ-centered, community-focused congregations
  • Mobilizing them for active involvement in a missionary effort designed to plant Great Commission churches among both unreached and responsive peoples worldwide."

2. Vision

"The Christian and Missionary Alliance will be a movement of Great Commission Christians who are glorifying God by building Christ's Church worldwide"

"The Central Pacific District will serve, unite and coordinate the efforts and activities of the congregations and pastors of the district as they fulfill the mission of the Christian and Missionary Alliance."

3. Values

3.1 Lost people matter to God. He wants them found.

3.2 Believers in the local church are the primary vehicles to accomplish God's purpose in the world.

3.3 Knowing and obeying God's Word is fundamental to true success.

3.4 No ministry can be accomplished apart from the enabling of the Holy Spirit.

3.5 Intentional leadership development is a responsibility of every church.

3.6 True disciples will make disciples who make disciples.

3.7 Everything we have belongs to God. We are only stewards.

3.8 Getting from where we are to the place where God wants us to be, means taking faith-filled risks. This always involves change.

4. Purpose

4.1 To assist congregations and pastors to function in their communities as Healthy Great Commission Churches:

  • reproducing themselves
  • modeling God's Kingdom with balanced ministries to all age groups
  • winning the lost
  • building the believers
  • equipping workers
  • multiplying leaders
  • sending out ambassadors

4.2 To encourage and minister to pastors, missionaries, leaders and their families, equipping them to serve with joy and effectiveness where God has called and placed them.

4.3 To evangelize communities through church planting in all cultural groups.

4.4 To aggressively participate in the worldwide evangelization program of the C&MA and CAMA Services Inc.

4.5 To assist in the development of church leaders.

4.6 To provide an effective district service center for ministry coordination, resourcing, and personnel administration.

5. Strategic Plan

5.1 Healthy, balanced church ministries

5.1.1 Train licensed workers and lay leaders of every age level in every church, in the Healthy Great Commission Church philosophy.
5.1.2 Provide consultants for churches seeking to refocus their ministry priorities.

5.1.3 Develop district teams to assist local churches in special ministry areas.

5.1.4 Increase opportunities for women in church ministries.

5.1.5 Encourage Student Ministries and International Student Ministries.

5.2 Healthy, effective pastoral families

5.2.1 Establish peer networks for growth and accountability as well as personal assistance and care.
5.2.2 Encourage and facilitate professional development.

5.2.3 Strengthen the ordination/consecration programs

5.2.4 Assess pastors and workers for effective ministry placement.

5.2.5 Facilitate transitions to utilize talents and giftedness, maximizing effectiveness and personal fulfillment in ministry.

5.3 Healthy church plants to evangelize communities

In collaboration with local churches implement plans for:
5.3.1 "Mother churches" to daughter new churches

5.3.2 "Sister churches" to jointly sponsor a new church

5.3.3 "Adopted" church planting

5.3.4 District sponsored church plants in strategic locations

5.3.5 Language/culture church planting focus (African-Americans, Arab, South Asian, Chinese, Filipino, Jewish, Muslim, Native American, Spanish, etc.)

5.3.6 Regional church planting focus (Hawaii, Urban, Utah, etc.)

5.3.7 Collaborating with and resourcing the local ministry of Intercultural Ministries Districts.

5.4 Serve churches through District Ministry Teams

5.4.1 Chaplain Team
5.4.2 Christian Education Team

5.4.3 Church Planting Team

5.4.4 Handicap Ministries Team

5.4.5 Men's Team

5.4.6 Women's Team

5.4.7 Senior Adults Team

5.4.8 Prayer Team

5.4.10 Missions Team: Participating in the worldwide evangelization program of the C&MA through an active ministry that:

  • Assists each church with year-round C&MA missions information and education.
  • Assists each church in the development of its own missions conference program
  • Cooperates with and serves the missions emphasis of Alliance Women and Alliance Men.
  • Coordinates and supports district and local church short-term missions teams.
  • Promotes the support of the Great Commission Fund and special opportunities.
  • Communicates with and serves the needs of district missionaries.
  • Encourages a climate of expectancy that God will call our youth to serve in career ministries worldwide.


5.5 Leadership development

5.5.1 Resource local church leadership training.
5.5.2 Encourage, assist and recognize developing leaders.

5.5.3 Provide continuing education opportunities.

5.5.4 Maintain records of participants in approved programs.

5.6 District Service and Administration Center

5.6.1 Information database service for records of all official workers.
5.6.2 Information and legal records for all churches and properties.

5.6.3 Resources for special needs situations.

5.6.4 Resources for district ministry teams: i.e. Chaplains, Christian Education, Church Planting, Handicap, Men, Senior Adults, Women, Youth, etc.

6. Faith Plan for 2000

6.1 Healthy Balanced Church Ministries

6.1.1 Provide "Growing A Healthy Church" training opportunities for workers and lay leaders and "Eternal CPR" training for church laity. 
6.1.2 Provide district consultants to assist churches seeking to refocus their ministry priorities in such areas as: Making Healthy Disciples (Christian Education), Healthy Outward-focused Youth Ministries, Women's Ministries and Men's Ministries.

6.1.3 Promote Student Ministries and International Student Ministries.

6.2 Healthy Effective Pastoral Families

6.2.1 Continue development of pastoral couples peer networks, for personal growth and accountability.
6.2.2 Plan a retreat or appropriate event to begin a specific outreach with "preacher's kids". Study other methods to support ministry kids.

6.2.3 Develop the assessment and placement function of the DSC through the identification of natural talents and gifts.

6.2.4 Promote excellence in ministry through a plan for in-service training.

6.2.5 Assist ordination and consecration candidates to experience personal enrichment and growth through effective mentoring, efficient service and encouragement.

6.2.6 Develop a plan to assist the spouses of official workers to increase their competencies in keeping with congregational expectations.

6.3 Healthy Church Planting

6.3.1 Continue to nurture new church plants already underway.

6.3.2 Plant one new district-sponsored church in a strategic location, beyond the reach of existing churches.

6.3.3 Plant two new mother-daughter churches by healthy churches.

6.3.4 Plant one new sister church by a cluster of churches that are within a reasonable proximity.

6.3.5 Plant one new church that will be adopted by a strong church located outside of its immediate area.

6.4 District Ministry Teams

6.4.1 Poll district churches to identify persons who have a vision and burden for particular areas of ministry and who could serve effectively on a team.
6.4.2 Identify consultant help within our district, other districts and the National Office.

6.4.3 Establish a communication network to inform churches of opportunities to help each other.

6.5 Leadership Development

6.5.1 Promote the lay leadership training track of the C&MA Church Leadership Academy.
6.5.2 Move district continuing education from talk to systematic action by creating a team of interested capable people.

6.5.3 Track and recognize the progress of persons pursuing training and education programs.

6.5.4 Encourage churches to reward the achievements of their personnel in pursuing additional qualifications.

6.5.5 Systematically nurture relationships with students at Simpson College and other ministry preparation institutions.

6.6 Prayer

6.6.1 Appoint a district prayer coordinator and prayer team.
6.6.2 Use the district web page to stimulate and communicate prayer needs.

6.6.3 Identify encouraging models of prayer ministries in our churches.

6.7 District Service Center

6.7.1 Develop the efficient, practical use of the web page.
6.7.2 Improve the district newsletter to be more readable and relevant.

6.7.3 Improve the efficiency of the database service for records for official workers.

6.7.4 Resource all district ministry teams.
